Yahooo…Kebetulan hari ini gw rada lengang, jadi bisa curi” waktu buat ngurusin blog ini, sekalian aja gw test ke-valid-an mark-up blog gw lewat W3C Validator. Buat lo yg mungkin belom tahu, W3C Validator itu semacam service yg disediakan oleh W3C ( World Wide Web Consortium ) buat ngebantu lo ngevalidasi apakah mark-up html lo bener apa ngga. Nah, kenapa musti divalidasi??
One of the important maxims of computer programming is: “Be conservative in what you produce; be liberal in what you accept.”
Browsers follow the second half of this maxim by accepting Web pages and trying to display them even if they’re not legal HTML. Usually this means that the browser will try to make educated guesses about what you probably meant. The problem is that different browsers (or even different versions of the same browser) will make different guesses about the same illegal construct; worse, if your HTML is really pathological, the browser could get hopelessly confused and produce a mangled mess, or even crash.
That’s why you want to follow the first half of the maxim by making sure your pages are legal HTML. The best way to do that is by running your documents through one or more HTML validators.

Jadi, setelah percobaan pertama, ternyata ditemukan 6 error. Well, it’s not that hard to fix. Cuma masalah atribut “alt” yg ga ada dalam tag <img>, dan beberapa error kecil laennya yg gw sendiri udah lupa. Tapi, ternyata, gw baru nyadar kalo doctype yg gw pake itu 1.0 Transitional. Sedangkan yg gw mau doctype 1.0 Strict.

Hemm..wait…apakah itu doctype?? Lo bisa klik kanan trus view source halaman website lo, trus lo liat baris pertamanya, disitu lo bisa liat jenis doctype-nya, seharusnya… Kegunaannya, doctype itu dipake sebagai flag buat ngasih tau browser versi mark-up html halaman lo apa. Nah, kalo lo make doctype Strict, artinya, mark-up yg lo pake emang bener” strict, alias ketat dan lo juga udah ga make tag-tag yg udah depecrated. Konon katanya, kalo halaman website lo doctype Strict dan valid, waktu yg digunakan browser buat ngerender halaman website lo jadi lebih cepat, konon yee..
Anyway, setelah gw ganti jadi doctype 1.0 Strict, ternyata, errornya jadi 11. Bah…makin runyam aja. Mulai dari tag <style> yg ga boleh ada di <body> lah (hanya boleh di <head>), atribut “target” yg udah depecrated, <input> yg musti diapit ama containing element-lah, dan masih banyak yg lainnya.
Hasilnya….sukses donk. Bukan gw namanya kalo ga bisa ngelewatin yg beginian… hohohoho… hohohoho… hahahaha… Gueeeee..
